How to
Transform Your Dream of a New Kitchen Into a Dream Kitchen
The first step is to visit our showroom to
familiarize yourself with the products you will be selecting to replace
your existing kitchen. Since there is such a wide assortment of products
available we suggest consulting with a Kitchen Designer to
eliminate the misinformation often encountered when shopping at home
centers or appliance stores. James Flaherty owner of Better Kitchens
& Baths is a Kitchen Designer and will be glad to answer any
questions you may have concerning your kitchen. He also conducts kitchen
design seminars where you will be exposed to a wide array of planning
information and the pros & cons of many of the most popular kitchen
products used in kitchen remodeling.
Your next step is to
meet with Mr. Flaherty in your
home to discuss your own unique needs and explore the many design
possibilities available. This is a very important meeting since the
skill and knowledge of your designer will play a large part in the
difference between a mediocre kitchen and your dream kitchen. All too
often the assumption is made that there are few if any design options
available and the inefficiencies of the old kitchen are perpetuated in
the new kitchen. This scenario is often the case when you take your room
dimensions to a home center and ask the salesperson to design your
kitchen.
After a thorough discussion of your design
possibilities and establishing an initial list of products to be
incorporated into your new kitchen, Mr. Flaherty will return to the
showroom to translate the design ideas discussed with you into a set of
plans and create a comprehensive proposal detailing all the materials
and labor necessary to construct your dream kitchen.
If you are thinking this represents a lot of work
to produce a comprehensive proposal, you are absolutely right. The
average proposal represents from 10 to 15 hours of design and research
by Mr. Flaherty. For this reason we
ask our customers to pay a small administrative fee of from $200.00 to
$500.00 to cover the initial cost to prepare the proposal and floor
plans. During your showroom visit we will discuss the scope of your
project and give you an estimated budget for your project. We will also
determine the fee needed to prepare a proposal and floor plans.
Once your plans and proposal are completed we will
set up an appointment to meet you at the showroom. Here you will have
the opportunity to see your proposal detailing every aspect of your new
kitchen. Your proposal will include detailed plans for your new kitchen,
along with a material list showing the appliances, plumbing fixtures,
counter top, lighting and any other items discussed at your home during
the previous meeting. You will also receive a list of all the special
accessories and features added to your cabinets to make your kitchen
more functional.
After reviewing your plans and proposal you may
want to explore additional cost alternatives or variations on your floor
plan. Since you will now have a firm budget and not just an estimate it
becomes much easier to evaluate the cost relationships of the different
products used to create your new kitchen. The previous
administrative fee is applied to the cost of your kitchen. From this
point on we will schedule as many appointments and make as many changes
as necessary to explore all the possible scenarios to create your dream
kitchen. Our most beautiful kitchens are the result of many hours of
consultation with our clients in order to provide you with a wide array
of choices and ideas.
