Dave &
Huguette Johnson opened Better Kitchens & Baths
in 1982 at its present location. While Dave handles
the day to day operations at the showroom, Huguette does
the accounting at home.
Dave began his career in the remodeling industry in 1970
when he became manager of Sears Installed Home
Improvement Divisions at the Oxnard Esplanade.
In
1974, He left Sears to open Kitchen Queen Corp., the first
independent retail kitchen and bath remodeling showroom in
Ventura County.

In 1982, he sold his interest in Kitchen
Queen Corp., and opened Better Kitchens and Baths.
Over the years, Dave has attended numerous kitchen and
bath design schools and seminars. In 1982, he
completed the NKBA's "Kitchen Designer Correspondence
Course: and in 1987, was accepted into the Society of
Certified Kitchen Designers (CKD). Dave is also a
licensed General Contractor Lic. #458724. In 1994,
he became a charter member of Signature Executive Network
(SEN), the first national kitchen and bath buying group in
the United States.
Dave's kitchens have been published in several national
magazines and the Ventura County Star. He has also
remodeled several kitchens for the Design House Chapter of
the New West Symphony League, the 1999 Design House
Kitchen is featured on our home page.
